They really seem to care more about the animal than they do up-selling you tests.
I was absolutely dreading taking my 12 year old indoor cat to the vet. She does NOT like to travel, never mind get shots/blood work. The staff and doctor were very welcoming and gentle with my nervous kitty. They were very quick, and didn't try to upsell me a bunch of unnecessary treatments. We were back at home within an hour. The lab results came in within 2 days, and the doctor took the time to explain everything very clearly. I highly recommend Smithaven Veterinary Hospital!
For the 14 years I had my baby boy they took the best care of him. Even at the end when my Husband and I had to set him free the family here at Smithaven were so great. They were always good to him and he loved them all. They got him through not only his annual physicals and shots, but mange when I rescued him, 4 surgeries, 2 biopsies, 1 horrible spider bite, allergies, xrays, infections, upset tummies and ultimately the dignified and humane way to end his suffering from cancer. The Drs both care so much and the staff are all animal lovers! I was very blessed to have them with me to care for Max during his life, and to make sure he was taken care of after it. Can't say enough good things. Just, thank you! You made all the difference in his life and when I am emotionally ready to rescue my next baby, this will be our vet again for sure. I would recommend them to anyone.
I take both my animals here and am very happy. The staff is extremely friendly and professional. Our doctor is very knowledgeable and explains things in detail and gives options. They also keep their facility updated and clean which is very important. I've been to other places that are dirty and no matter how good the doctors are I can't in good conscious bring my animals to a place that is dirty. Medical facilities must be clean, imho. If the owners can't keep their facility clean then what other things are they being lax about. (small rant). The only negative is, when we were leaving the other night the parking lot was too dark. I would love to see a street lamp blasting wonderful light in all directions to make walking to the car safer. Overall great facility.
Truly skilled Proffessional Veterinarians and staff. They know what their talking about. We couldn't be more happy to have them for our furry ones..
